Did you know that Retail Council of Canada, in partnership with industry sponsors, will award more than $85,000 this year in scholarships and benefits to students entering or currently enrolled in a business, marketing or retail-related program at a Canadian post-secondary institution?

 

An additional $5,000 Scholarship will be awarded by Interac Association to the top Retail as a Career Scholarship applicant. 

 

In addition to receiving financial assistance toward their education, scholarship recipients will also be awarded an all-access pass, including travel and accommodation, to attend STORE 2012 - Canada's Retail Conference in Toronto June 4-5, 2012. All scholarship recipients will be formally recognized at the Excellence in Retail Awards Dinner which honours the most innovative retail organizations of the year. This is a valuable opportunity for our future retailers to connect with some of Canada's most prominent retails industry professionals.

 

Get involved in this remarkable program that recognizes rising stars in the retail community and champions the retail sector as the largest employer in Canada.

 

Application deadline is Friday March 31, 2012.

 

Who is eligible from your School?

Any student who meets the criteria below:

 

i)             working in the retail industry full- or part-time

ii)            attending a Canadian college or university full-time or part-time in Fall 2011,

iii)           who is pursuing a retail, business or marketing-related program

 

What do students need to apply?

Students are required to include the following in their application:

  • Reference letter from current retail employer
  • Typed essay
  • Official student transcript for last two semesters?
  • Proof of enrollment to a post secondary school institution

How can your students apply for the scholarship?

To apply for the program, please have your students visit Canadian Retail Institute at www.retaileducation.caor provide them with a copy of the 2012 Retail as Career Application Guidelines. These guidelines contain all the information that is need to apply for the program

How can you engage your students?

RCC is happy to provide 2012 Retail as a Career Scholarship information and we encourage you to market this great scholarship opportunity to your students. Email your students and their parents; send special messages to fellow faculty members; put up posters in the classroom and hallways. Marketing materials are available for download:

*** NEW THIS YEAR. RCC is also launching a social media campaign for the 2012 Retail as a Career Scholarship program. Beginning March 5th, past winners will be featured on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel to give a glimpse into the many ways this important scholarship program has impacted their retail career and their life. Winners will discuss the personal and professional growth opportunities of retail on our LinkedIn group page. Updates, insights and videos will be also shared daily on twitter (#RAAC2012).
