Cornwall - November 28, 2011 - Students and teachers from area schools had the opportunity last Thursday morning to thank local employers who have demonstrated commitment to their school’s co-operative education program at the Champion Co-operative Education Employers Breakfast, sponsored by the Eastern Ontario Training Board.

The breakfast, which was held at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club, allowed students and teachers from seven schools within the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) and three schools within the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO), to recognize employers, who have accepted and taught co-op students, for their support in student learning.

The breakfast, which took place during Experiential Learning Week in Ontario, was organized by UCDSB Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) Facilitator Alex MacDougall, UCDSB program resource teacher Jennifer MacLachlan, and CDSBEO OYAP Coordinator Dan Lortie.

“We had a great morning,” said MacDougall. “This event gives us the opportunity to recognize the numerous employers who provide experiential learning through co-operative education.”

Students presented their employers with a certificate of appreciation.
