The Business Education Partnership at Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School received a 2010 Passport to Prosperity Employer Champion Award on June 9, 2010 in recognition of its outstanding commitment to providing meaningful experiential learning programs for local high school students. The six businesses recognized collectively are MacKinnon Transport, Reids Heritage Homes, TD Canada Trust, Thomasfield Homes, Tim Hortons and the Co-operators.

The Business Education Partnership at Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School has been supporting specialized experiential learning programs for local high school students for more than seven years. During that time, students have been given the opportunity to participate in job shadowing, mentoring, career talks, classroom visits, school work transition programs, co-operative education and apprenticeship programs in a variety of sectors including home construction, warehouse, banking, insurance and transportation.

"Each year more than 100 students benefit from this partnership," said Holly Conway, Principal of Bishop Macdonell CHS. "We would like to thank The Career Education  Council Guelph Wellington Dufferin, our local Passport to Prosperity organization, for inviting the school and local businesses to the initial meeting which established this successful partnership. These partners continue to network and share resources and expertise to meet and expand opportunties for the school community."
