The kids at Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School have hit the airwaves.

Or, more accurately, they have hit the broadwaves with an online radio station manned by students in a broadcast journalism program.

Called the specialist high skills major program, it is run for Grades 11 and 12 by communications technology teacher Rob McDonald.

"What we are doing is opening up a new style of course for kids where they can look into radio and television broadcasting," Mc-Donald said, "and one of the things we managed to launch this year with the broadcasting (component) is the radio station."

Called RND Radio, the station is Internet-based on the school's website.

The station is on 24 hours a day, but normally the students are only on the air from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., although they can go on after regular hours.
