Ontario is challenging young people across the province to volunteer for three hours over three weeks to "change the world" in their communities.

The fifth annual ChangeTheWorld - Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge kicks off in Mississauga today with a "clean-up blast" of local parks. The challenge runs from April 15 to May 6, 2012 and coincides with National Volunteer Week (April 15 to 21, 2012).

Delivered in partnership with the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network, this year's campaign will involve 25 volunteer centres coordinating events in more than 450 communities for students between the ages of 14 to 18. The 2012 target is to get 25,000 students volunteering.

ChangeTheWorld supports the McGuinty government's commitment to strengthen the not-for-profit sector and build on Ontario's strong culture of volunteerism.
